There are no awards (or joy) for fence sitters.
You are ALL IN or you are out!
Just because you want to win, know you are capable of winning, have the right horse and trainer (and have now gotten over your nervousness and you feel confident), it still doesn't automatically translate into winning unless you MAKE THE DECISION TO WIN and then MAKE THE DECISION TO BECOME A ROCKSTAR ...
By CONSISTENTLY putting in MORE EFFORT, with the RIGHT STRATEGIES, than the other winners!
BUT even with all that, riders can get tripped up and held back with other things going on in their lives ... health, lifestyle, being triggered emotionally with trainers, relationships, school, and work ... so they still won't perform at their best if are not deploying the right MENTAL TECHNIQUES TO MITIGATE the impact from any issues in the rest of their life.
Finally, as they say on the movie sets, "And ACTION!!!"
We're half-way through winter circuit, and today I am featuring some of my amazing amateurs! (OK, I did sneak one junior rider in here since she did the Jr/Am class!)
It was WCHR hunter week at WEF, and Mimi Moulton of Greenwich, CT won the Division Championship for the Older Adult Hunter Riders at WEF on her horse Golden Goose.
Her highest score EVER! Mimi and Golden Goose got a 92! And then she won Reserve Championship for the Low Adult Amateur Hunters on her other horse, Trip to Paris.
And not only that, she also won High Score Adult Amateur Rider Award!
Congrats to Mimi with all her horses this week!
For the amateur jumpers, Sophia Gremley, was Division Champion as well for WEF6. She won the $1,500 1.30m Amateur Jumper and then in the pouring rain, she placed 4th in the $10,000 1.35, Amateur Jumper classic.
Adult hunter rider, Casey Zuraitis of MA, is having her best HITS ever in Ocala with her three horses! In addition, when her mom signed her up for my bootcamp as a gift, she had no idea she would do my program and start winning on her own horse as well!
Casey wrote, "I had another Rockstar day! I won all three classes this morning with my three horses in the adult equitation. Then I won the Ariat with an 85. Then I prepped my mom's horse, and she won both her trips in the pre-adults!"
The following week, Casey wrote: "What an insane day with 6th in the $10,000 USHJA derby in the stadium! In the jumper ring, he got an 84 out of an amazing field of horses. Plus, my mom won her derby again today. Her first round was a 91! I'm just so happy with our growth in such a short time. This time last year, I was making dangerous decisions at distances and causing my horses not to trust me. Thanks for everything you've done for me and my horses!"
And congrats as well in the adult hunters for Nancy Buzzetta of NY and Wellington, who placed well all week; a beautiful 8th place out of 47 riders in the A/O Hunter 3'3" classic which was live streaming during the Friday Night Under the Lights event in the international ring! She also placed 7th for each of the following classes this week; The NHS/THIS Adult Medal, the Ariat Adult Medal, the A/O Adult Hunter 3'3" for 36 and over class, and that handy round as well.
Eva Paliouras, a junior rider who trains with showjumper David Blake at WEF, had a clean sweep on Saturday on all three of her horses; she won a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd place in the $15,000 Jr/AM 1.20m classic! And then ... wait for it ... She repeated that on Sunday ... although different horses won the various placings!
No "warming up, getting the lay of the land, and easing into it" for amateur rider, Morganne Young, who is with Redfield Training, LLC! She arrived to Wellington for the first time ever and won a blue ribbon in her class and her first adult jumper class, 1.10m class age 18-35. Then she went up to Ocala and texted me, "I was 2nd yesterday by 0.1 seconds in the 1.10 A/O age 18-35 on my first day at HITS OCALA! Thank you again for the session this week!"
Congrats to Louisa Attenborough who won 1st place in the Low Adult Hunters for WEF3, then 1st place in the Adult Amateur Hunter 50 and over class on her horse, Coronation, at WEF 6 AFTER ALSO winning in the same class during WEF4 ... while also racking up additional placings in her classes at WEF.
When you know you can and should be winning, or winning more consistently ... when you have belief, confidence and everything else a rider needs ... what else is missing? For each rider it is a different story and reason. For each rider, it is a different solution.
