Adair really surprised me. (I can't lie!)
She just won the individual Gold Medal in the Jumper Zone Finals at Tryon!
What had her stuck? A childhood pattern of going off course that ...
Became part of her identity when her childhood friends "gifted" her the nickname of "O.C." for Off Course!
(And honestly, I almost didn't invite her into my bootcamp program!)
I only have so many open spots at any given time, so I have to be very selective with whom I invest my time.
The potential concern I had was actually NOT her age, but her impressive "profile."
Which admittedly fits a lot riders in this industry, however ...
There are riders that are SO successful in the rest of their lives ...
That quite honestly ... they aren't very coachable.
Not that they CAN'T be coached to receive the same amazing results as my other clients ...
But that the process is not as fun FOR ME as it is with the coachable ones.
The first group is more resistant and ego driven in a negative way.
Those are the riders who have conditioned their horse trainers to become masters at walking on eggshells!
And agreeing to things that they wouldn't normally do with other clients.
Even a simple thing like ...
Telling the client the mistake was the fault of the horse versus the truth; that it was a rider error.
And here's the thing; I don't walk on eggshells.
And I won't tell you what you want to hear if it could trip you up.
Because this is a high risk sport.
My personal integrity rule is to always do the right thing.
(Plus, I like to sleep at night!)
But most importantly, you are paying me for a transformation.
The truth you've been blocking, or have been blind to, IS the software update!
Adair showed up and took the valuable feedback to heart and always with gratitude!

The other group? They start with placing a higher value on being right and holding on to doing things their way.
Letting go of "their way" FEELS like it equals giving up control.
When the reality is ... results happen only when we relax, trust, and LET GO!
